Hospital Bag Checklist for Mom (The Essentials)
Let’s start with you, because yes — you matter too.
1. Comfortable Clothing

You’re not going to want tight leggings or anything restrictive.
Pack:
- A loose nightgown or oversized t-shirt (easy for labor and checks)
- A cozy robe
- Going-home outfit (think soft, stretchy, and comfy — you’ll still look about 5–6 months pregnant)
Why this works: Your body is going through a lot, and comfort helps you relax and focus on recovery.
2. Nursing Bras and Underwear

Your body will change fast after birth — especially your chest.
Bring:
- 2–3 nursing bras
- High-waisted underwear (trust me on this)
Why this works: Nursing bras make feeding easier, and high-waisted underwear won’t irritate sensitive areas.
3. Toiletries (Your Comfort Kit)

Hospitals provide basics… but they’re not exactly luxurious.
Pack:
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Face wash and moisturizer
- Lip balm (hospital air is dry)
- Hairbrush and hair ties
- Deodorant
Why this works: Feeling clean and fresh can instantly boost your mood — especially after labor.
4. Pads and Postpartum Care Items

The hospital will give you some — but it’s good to have your own.
Bring:
- Heavy-duty pads
- Comfortable disposable underwear
- Peri bottle (if you have one you prefer)
Why this works: Postpartum bleeding is heavier than most moms expect. Being prepared makes a huge difference.
5. Phone Charger (Extra Long!)

This is one of those things nobody tells you.
Pack:
- A long charging cable (6–10 feet)
Why this works: Hospital outlets are never where you need them. You’ll want your phone nearby for photos, messages, and distractions.
6. Snacks (Yes, Really)

Labor can take time, and hospital food isn’t always available when you want it.
Pack:
- Granola bars
- Crackers
- Dried fruit
- Electrolyte drinks
Why this works: You’ll need energy — especially after delivery.
